Love: The Best Gift of All

Happy Lover’s Day!

Love is a beautiful thing. It’s fun, it’s joyful, and it has the power to change lives. When I think about love, I like to dig deep—because love is more than just a feeling. It’s an action, a commitment, and a reflection of the heart of God. Everyone defines love differently, but for me, love is best understood through the lens of God’s truth.

God’s Ultimate Love

The greatest love we will ever know is the love of God. His love is sacrificial, unconditional, and everlasting.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” — John 3:16 (KJV)

God’s love is the foundation of all love. Before we ever knew how to love, He first loved us (1 John 4:8). When we fully grasp His love, we begin to love others with the same grace, patience, and kindness that He extends to us.

A Father’s Love

I have been blessed to know the love of my father, not just my Heavenly Father, but my earthly father as well. As I look back over my life, I see love in the small yet powerful ways my dad cared for me—reading Bible stories to me as a child, giving me piggyback rides while pretending to be a barking dog (yes, that happened!), walking me to the bus stop every morning, and praying for me daily.

One memory that stands out is the time I got a flat tire while I was more than two hours away from home. My father couldn’t physically come to help me, but what did he do? He got out of bed, sat at the table, and prayed until I made it home safely. That’s love.

“When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up.” — Psalm 27:10 (KJV)

Even in moments when we feel alone, God’s love is always there. He places people in our lives—like parents, mentors, and friends—to reflect His care and protection.

A Mother’s Love

The love of a mother is just as powerful. My mother has always encouraged me, spoken life into me, and made me confident in who I am. She’s been with me through my highs and my lows—even when I pulled away, even when I didn’t make the best decisions. She never gave up on me. She never stopped praying for me. She corrected me when I needed it, even when it wasn’t easy.

“Open rebuke is better than secret love.” — Proverbs 27:5 (KJV)

Real love doesn’t always tell you what you want to hear—it tells you what you need to hear. My mother loved me enough to correct me, guide me, and push me toward the will of God. That’s love in action.

Love That Endures

I thank God every day for the love of my parents. I don’t take it for granted that I was born into a family where love wasn’t just spoken—it was shown. Their love reminds me of the love of God.

Because real love:

• Corrects. (Proverbs 27:5)

• Understands.

• Endures all things. (1 Corinthians 13:7)

The best part? Love isn’t limited to just family—it’s a gift that God wants all of us to experience. When you open your heart to love God’s way, you’ll love freely. You’ll see that love isn’t just about what you get, but what you give.

“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” — 1 Corinthians 13:13 (KJV)

God Is Love

People often misunderstand love. Love isn’t just about feelings or emotions; it’s about loving through God. When you love through Him, you love with patience, kindness, truth, and grace. You love with a heart that forgives, protects, and prays. You love in a way that lasts.

“He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” — 1 John 4:8 (KJV)

“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.” — 1 John 4:18 (KJV)

When we love with God’s love, fear disappears. We are secure in Him, knowing that love is not based on performance, but on His unchanging nature.

Loving God, Loving People

Jesus gave us the greatest commandment, which ties everything together:

“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.” — Mark 12:30-31 (KJV)

When we truly love God, it overflows into how we love others. We don’t just love when it’s easy—we love because He first loved us.

Love in Action

“Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.” — 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (KJV)

This is what love looks like. Not just words, not just emotions—but action. Love is patient, kind, humble, and enduring. Love corrects, protects, and rejoices in truth.

I pray that you experience love God’s way. That you grow in His love, understand it more deeply, and allow it to shape the way you love others. Because when God opens your understanding of love, everything changes.

And you’ll finally see—love is the best gift of all.
